A thriving town

Leatherhead enjoys a rich history with its official charter dating back to 1248. Nowadays it is a popular town with a thriving community and excellent travel connections. From Fountain House, access to the M25, junction 9 is just 1.2 miles away, direct trains to London take 48 minutes* from Leatherhead station which is 0.5 miles from Fountain House and both Heathrow and Gatwick airports are within 30 minutes drive.**

With a bustling town centre and pedestrianised main shopping area, there’s an eclectic mix of high street stores and independent shops, bars, cafés and restaurants. There’s also a popular street market on Thursdays and Saturdays.

The Leatherhead Theatre, which is also a cinema and arts centre, is located in the centre of town and provides year round live entertainment, exhibitions and screenings.

There is a lively community feel to the town with events and activities running throughout the year, including the Mole Valley Arts Alive Festival which takes place throughout October and celebrates music, literature, theatre, comedy, crafts and performance.

Outdoor space is plentiful, with a number of parks and gardens within easy reach of the town centre, and the surrounding countryside offers ample opportunity for walking, cycling or horse riding.

Leatherhead is currently undergoing somewhat of a renaissance, with a significant regeneration scheme set to further enhance the town.

The Transform Leatherhead project is set to deliver many exciting improvements to the town including a new Urban Quarter, Riverside Quarter with improved outdoor space and a revitalised Retail & Leisure Quarter.

Get the home you love with Help to Buy

The government-backed Help to Buy scheme can help make purchasing your dream home a reality.

How it works

With Help to Buy, you can buy a new Fountain House apartment with a deposit from as little as £10,250.

The Help to Buy Equity Loan from the Government is for up to 20% of the cost of your newly built home.

You’ll need a 5% cash deposit and a mortgage to make up the rest (75% of the purchase price).

The Help To Buy Equity Loan is interest free for 5 years and can be repaid at any time or on the sale of your home.

Example 1: Fountain House studio apartment

Purchase price of apartment £205,000

5% deposit (paid by you) £10,250

20% equity loan (provided by HM Government) £41,000

75% mortgage (provided by a HTB Mortgage Lender) £153,750

Example 2: Fountain House 1 bedroom apartment

Purchase price of apartment £230,000

5% deposit (paid by you) £11,500

20% equity loan (provided by HM Government) £46,000

75% mortgage (provided by a HTB Mortgage Lender) £172,500

Help to Buy: Equity Loan, England. Homebuyers who meet affordability and lending terms can borrow an equity loan of up to 20% (40% in London) of the sale price of a new build home. The price of the home can be £600,000 or less. You must fund at least 80% (60% in London) of the sale price with a mortgage and at least a 5% deposit. Pay no interest on the loan for the first 5 years. Interest fees start at 1.75% and rise each year in April by the Regional Price Index (RPI) plus 1%. You pay a monthly management fee of £1 for the life of the loan. Homes England, the lender, secures the equity loan as a second charge on your Help to Buy home. You must repay the equity loan when you sell the home or pay off your mortgage. You can repay all or part (10% to 30%) of the loan any time before then. An independent financial adviser and a solicitor may be able to help you decide if Help to Buy is right for you. Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage, equity loan or other loans secured against it.
